  • H. Kovářová Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Liběchov, Czech Republic

Proteomics studies protein properties to provide an integrated view of cellular processes. Proteome, which is the protein complement of a genome, provides a platform for proteomics. Proteomics, a burgeoning field at present, is aimed at profiling and characterizing gene expression at the protein level, their post-translational modifications and interactions. The review is devoted to the most important events in the short history of proteomics and to recent trends and developments in the field.
