Collagen -Properties, Modifications and Applications

Abstrakt

Chemical modifications for obtaining specific and the most efficient chemical, physical and material properties of the collagen-based matrices were reviewed. Possible chemical reactions of collagen with functional reagents (acylation, esterification, deamination and deguanidination) and polymerization reactions (aldehyde condensation, periodate oxidation) were discussed. Finally, several technological procedures for the surface immobilization of collagen on synthetic polymers were summarized.
