Abstract

The paper describes spectacular luminescence experiments, which could serve as an interesting supplement of chemistry and physics lessons at universities or high schools. Phenomena such as chemiluminescence, fluorescence or phosphorescence can be demonstrated and abstract concepts like excited state, spin or photon explained. All the experiments have small requirements on laboratory equipment and material costs.
