Abstrakt

The infections caused by fungi of the Fusarium genus reduce crop yields and grain quality and result in economic losses oworkdwide. In addition, the fungi negatively affects human and animal health, mainly through their metabolites, mycotoxins. An extensive research of Fusarium mycotoxins, biosynthetic pathways and genetic determinants is pursued in Czech Republic. This review is an introduction to the world of the Fusarium genus and genes that are involved in trichothecene biosynthesis.
