Abstract

Nanoparticles and nanostructures can be fabricated by numerous methods. These methods are usually divided into "top-down" and "bottom-up" approaches. In this contribution, two simple demonstrations of the construction of a "nanocar" are presented. Both demonstrations are based on macroscopic analogies with LEGO bricks or sugar crystals (that represent atoms or molecules) and are suitable for secondary science education.
